What are Google Google Ads Multi Attribution Reports?
Within the MarketFlare DNA AdWords reporting software, some reports are not eligible for group-by operations when more than one criteria/dimension is selected and you will see the warning below.
Solution: in multi attribution reports simply select the one, single criteria/dimension you are interested in viewing metrics for. For example, in the Gender Performance report only select the gender dimension. Then when you right click on report, the group-by option will be available, and you can opt to group-by gender.
About Single and Multi-Attribution Reports
With ad impressions on the Google Display Network (GDN), the trigger could be related to multiple report criteria such as age or gender – those are multiple attribution reports. And sometimes the trigger is attributed to a single criteria/dimension based upon an ordering priority – those are single-attribution reports.
Multi-attribution Report Example
Besides the Gender Performance report shown above, another example of a multiple attribution report is the Placements Performance report that includes Topic and Placement criteria. The impressions could possibly be attributed to each criteria. So aggregation or group-by of these dimensions could result in row-level or totals data that is not accurate.
All Google AdWords multiple attribution report types –
- Age Range Performance
- Audience Performance
- Automatic Placements Performance
- Campaign Location Target
- Campaign Platform Target
- Display Keyword Performance
- Display Topics Performance Gender Performance
- Geo Performance
- Parental Status Performance
- Placement Performance
- URL Performance
- User Ad Distance
For the Geo Performance report the group-by functionality is available if you do not select location attributes beyond Country. If you select the Metro Area, City, Region, or other location criteria, then the report is at risk of having multi-attribution metrics. And so the group-by would be disabled. More details on this situation are found in the AdWords API documentation.
Make sure you are running the latest version of MarketFlare DNA as we are continually adding features always support the latest version of the AdWords API.
